Stonesthrow Records The Egyptian Lover Art Gallery And Show

The O.G Egyptian Lover had an art gallery and show on Saturday November 5 at the Stonesthrow Records L.A location where his vinyl and art works of Egyptian style paintings were sold. There were some great DJ sets from Peanut Butter Wolf, Rhettmatic, Jrocc, Cut Chemist, Ogarabian Prince and Dam Funk. The Egyptian Lover definitely killed the show with his classic throwback songs such as The 808, Girls, I Need A Freak, and My Beat Goes Boom. The show completely felt like time traveling back to the 80’s but it’s clear that 80’s sound is still incredibly popular and used by DJ’s nowadays. All of the DJ set’s for the night were awesome and each had a distinct style of their own sound. I noticed during the whole show that in between scratches the type of sound was supposed to be that we were on a spaceship because there was sampling from songs that were making spaceship sounds and an over-voice that was talking about “landing” which was a nice touch that was mixed into play. I thought that the ending of the show was really what made it all come together by how Cut Chemist carried a crate of vinyl records above his head through the crowd and then passed it over to Wolf which was followed by a sweet high five, then picked out a vinyl and continued on with his set!
